Billie Eilish – astrological birth chart

With the second album Happier Than Ever released this week and the No Time To Die James Bond theme tune finally reaching cinemas at the end of September, 19 year old American singer-songwriter Billie Eilish continues her rise to global mega-stardom. Sun, Venus, Pluto and midheaven are all in Sagittarius at the top of her birth chart. These alone mark her out as being born with a huge potential for making a positive, energetic and inspirational impact on the world.

Eilish began her rise to fame with the now legendary release of Ocean Eyes in November 2015. This coincided with an almost exact transiting conjunction of chart ruler Neptune to Billie’s 12th house Mars in Pisces – tapping into magical energy and illusory dreams of connection, simultaneously launching her into the 12th house collective consciousness. She released her first album When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? under another Neptune transit in 2019. An unprecedented number of Grammy awards for someone so young followed

Venus in Sagittarius falls exactly on the Eilish midheaven, a position shared with David Bowie. She makes her popular mark on the world with an open-minded and exploratory approach to artistic self-expression, love and relationships. With so much Sagittarius in the chart, an exalted and protective position of Jupiter in Cancer – the sign of home and family – is important. Having been homeschooled, Eilish co-writes her songs with brother Finneas, with full support from her parents. A quick look at Finneas’s chart (born 30th July 1997) inevitably shows strongly supportive astrological synastry connections with Billie, as is common between siblings. Billie’s Venus-MC conjunction career goals are perfectly supported by her brother’s hardworking Mars-Saturn opposition – a trine from Saturn in Aries and a sextile from Mars in Libra.

All change with Moon in Aquarius

Up until March this year, Billie Eilish had a very definite style, an often colourful but downtempo “anti-image”. Suddenly in March, she became a blonde bombshell and soon after a photoshoot in Vogue magazine shockingly portrayed her in corset and stockings. The Saturn-Uranus square transiting her 11th house Moon (and to some extent Neptune) in Aquarius stands out as important for 2021. The first conjunction of Saturn to her 11th house Moon in Aquarius was approaching in March, when the posting of her new hairstyle to her Instagram followers – over 87 million at the time of writing this article – received a million likes in six minutes. In June, transiting Uranus squared her Moon for the first time. Natal Moon in Aquarius is known for reacting unpredictably and individualistically – add a transiting square from Uranus and anything could happen! The Aquarian truth-seeking, emotional freedom and social conscience have all been clearly on display in interviews building up to the release of the new album.

The album Happier Than Ever is “dropped” (as they like to say now – we old-timers prefer “released”, like a tiger or maybe a hamster from a cage. Presumably the album is picked up again after being dropped…) this week and all the early signs are that it’s another massive success. Building on themes she has explored in earlier material, new songs such as the single Your Power get right to the point. With natal Pluto both conjunct Venus and square her Ascendant/Descendant axis, the darkness is never far away for Billie Eilish.

The aspirational Sagittarius Sun forms a close conjunction to the Moon’s South Node in Billie’s birth chart, indicating that she is likely to feel a sense of fated “been there, done that” at times, as if her wisdom has been inherited from previous lifetimes. Her Gemini North Node emphasises communication and adaptability in this lifetime. There is also a mutual reception between Mercury in Capricorn and Saturn in Gemini – taking serious responsibility for her words and developing control and maturity around communication is a major life challenge.

Born in 2001, Eilish is part of the Uranus and Neptune in Aquarius with Pluto in Sagittarius generation, a powerfully idealistic and future-orientated group. It’s an obvious cliche, but with her Sun in Sagittarius and Moon in Aquarius, Billie Eilish could truly be said to be a spokesperson of her generation. With Pisces rising, a predominance of mutable signs and an unpredictable Aquarian side, there will no doubt be many more changes to come.

Taylor Swift – astrological birth chart

An unstoppable force to be reckoned with! Taylor Swift was born on 13th December 1989 in Pennsylvania, where she grew up on a Christmas tree farm. The ambitious and conservative Capricorn rising chart (below) is the one most commonly used. There is some doubt about the 8.36am time of birth but it makes astrological sense. Her Sun sign is fiery, optimistic and enthusiastic Sagittarius but Earth and Water are the strongest elements. The large number of Cancer-Capricorn oppositions indicates strong motivating conflicts – between home and career, romance and cynicism, and other challenges.

Unaspected Sun in Sagittarius

At its best, an unaspected Sagittarian Sun (possibly 12th house, serving the collective) is free to shine out in a truly unique and visionary way. The unconventional, humanitarian love nature of Venus in Aquarius is also largely unaspected (there is a wide-ish sextile aspect to sexy Mars in Scorpio) – again showing potential free self-expression but possible difficulties with inconsistency. A close novile minor aspect (40 degrees, 9th harmonic) between the Sun and Venus indicates joy, peace and a sense of completion. Neptune is at the Sun-Venus midpoint, a combination of self (Sun), love (Venus) and universal “Swiftie” ideals (Neptune), or a glamorous deception (Neptune), or maybe both?!

Taylor Swift’s chart from http://www.astrotheme.com

Everyone born in 1989 has the Capricorn Saturn-Uranus-Neptune conjunction in their chart, with varying degrees of strength and importance. Many astrologers have written about this and the so-called Millenial generation, with a focus on those born around the late eighties and early nineties. Although she can no doubt comfortably afford to do so, perhaps Taylor Swift is playing a small part in the birth of a new dimension (Uranus-Neptune) of material and economic responsibility (Saturn in Capricorn), having consistently donated many millions to a very wide range of charities and causes.

Moon and Jupiter in Cancer

Taylor has a Moon-Jupiter conjunction in the sign of Cancer, signifying her warm, kind and emotionally generous side. She is well known for her supportive and nurturing attitude towards many of her fans. Interestingly, a quick look at the Cancerian USA chart for 4th July 1776 shows a strong compatibility with America as a whole. A candidate for the President of the United States one day? Stranger things – much stranger – have happened.

Between 2003 and 2006, she laid the foundations of her career in Nashville, as Saturn moved over her Cancerian planets. The musical and lyrical style of country music fits the sign of Cancer perfectly – sentimental, traditional, romantic, with an emphasis on home and family values. In 2004 and 2005, transiting Pluto to her Sun unleashed a powerful and ambitious drive as she signed to Big Machine Records and became the youngest ever artist signed by Sony/ATV publishing. Her career took off, as swift as a Sagittarian arrow (sorry, couldn’t resist that one).

In August 2017 – at the time of a karmic Saturn transit to her natal Sun – Swift successfully countersued a former radio deejay she had accused of her groping her in 2013. Taylor Swift showed herself as unusually enlightened for someone in her position: “I acknowledge the privilege that I benefit from in life, in society and in my ability to shoulder the enormous cost of defending myself in a trial like this. My hope is to help those whose voices should also be heard. Therefore, I will be making donations in the near future to multiple organizations that help sexual assault victims defend themselves.”

2018 and her January 2019 Saturn return

The latest album Reputation has put her closer to the sales figures of Pink Floyd and Madonna, right up there in the big league. Saturn entering Capricorn for 2018 shows some serious challenges, a heavy time with hard work ahead. The schoolteacher of the zodiac will pass over Taylor’s four Capricorn planets (lessons in responsibility and career) and oppose her planets in Cancer (emotional struggles). This is a crucial time in her life. A single pass Saturn return over her close Saturn-Neptune (the reality of her ideals) conjunction in late December 2018 to January 2019 will be a major personal and career re-assessment. Good luck to her!

The wonderful Caroline Lucas and some astrology

CarolineLucas1As a result of recently reading her book “Honourable Friends? Parliament and the Fight for Change”, I now have even more respect for Britain’s only Green MP Caroline Lucas. As comedian and columnist Mark Steel observed, she has “brought politics into disrepute … she’s done all the things she promised to do!”. Over the last five years, through her consistently principled actions, she has stood out like a beacon of hope in British politics. She was named MP of the year in 2014, awarded for her work with minority and deprived communities.

Saggitarius

Sagittarius

A quick look at her astrological chart

An important feature of Caroline’s birth chart (born 9th December 1960, Malvern, time unknown) is a close aspect between Mars in Cancer and Saturn in Capricorn. Fighting for women’s rights, the protection of the environment and supporting the vulnerable in society are all perfect channels for her Mars in Cancer energy. This energy is directly opposed to Saturn in Capricorn, showing her struggles against the establishment. However, with Venus, Jupiter and Saturn in Capricorn, Caroline is also quite capable of being part of the establishment herself, an outsider on the inside. Together with her almost certainly Moon in Leo (and perhaps even a revolutionary Moon conjunct Uranus in Leo), it is her positive and visionary Sagittarius Sun that truly inspires – “Where there is Caroline Lucas, there is hope” to quote environmentalist and journalist George Monbiot. She often talks more sense than the rest of them put together. We need more like her, oh yes.

Jimi Hendrix – astrological birth chart

Hendrix1To these ears, the old classic Jimi Hendrix albums still sound absolutely magical and brilliant. Jimi’s birth chart horoscope (born 10.15 am, 27th November 1942 in Seattle, Washington, USA) shows clearly he was born with the possibility of achieving transcendent genius, although not without hard work and struggle.

The visionary potential of someone born with a Sun, Mercury and Venus conjunction of planets in the sign of Sagittarius and the often mysterious 12th house was there from the start. Sagittarius was also his Ascendant (rising sign). Of course, as is the case with every individual, it was up to Hendrix himself to make full use of what was indicated astrologically from birth. No-one can do it for us!

HendrixAstroSagittarius is the most evolved of the three Fire signs, rising above the energy of Aries and the ego of Leo. Jimi’s positive, enthusiastic, philosophical, excessive and larger-than-life approach to life are typical of the sign. Travel and foreign countries often play key roles in the life of Sagittarius, and Hendrix began to truly find himself after moving to London in 1965. There then followed those extraordinary albums, beginning with “Are You Experienced?” and “Axis: Bold As Love” in 1967. The musical and spiritual genius of Hendrix came through in his unique ground-breaking guitar playing, his songs, lyrics and live performances.

Hendrix’s Moon-Jupiter conjunction in Cancer shows his more caring and sensitive side. Jimi’s chart ruler Jupiter is traditionally exalted in Cancer, a fortunate position for someone with so much Sagittarius. Numerous biographies refer to his kindness, warmth and modesty, which continued after he became famous. Saturn and Uranus in Gemini show, amongst other things, a way with words in the extraordinary lyrics of so many of his songs. Saturn and Uranus also show very difficult conflicts and tensions to deal with, alternating between the heavy responsibility of Saturn and the unpredictable brilliance of Uranus, both opposing his Sun, Venus and Mercury. Basic self-confidence, relationships and communication were affected. Despite all the positive energy shown elsewhere in the chart, it’s no surprise that he wrote a song called Manic Depression. Having no planets in Earth signs may not have helped.Hendrix2

Mars in Scorpio sits confidently in the 10th house, an intense burning drive to make his mark on the world. Like most of the great rock stars born in the late 1930s and early 1940s, Hendrix had Pluto in the early degrees of Leo combining smoothly with Neptune in the early degrees of Libra. This combination of powerful ego self-expression and ideals of love and peace typified the hippie generation. However, after his early death at age 27, Jimi Hendrix is one man who seems to have risen above and beyond his lifetime.
