Sanctuary Housing exposed – Dispatches Channel 4, 25th March 2019, 8pm

“Datshiane Navanayagam reveals the shocking conditions that tenants of one of Britain’s biggest social landlords are being forced to live in. A year-long investigation finds that Sanctuary Housing left family homes in disrepair and uncovers evidence that this had a critical impact on the health of some of their most vulnerable tenants. As the housing association has grown, official channels of complaint have failed to force it to act reasonably, leaving residents feeling voiceless. In desperation they’ve turned to social media to share their experiences and offer support. Dispatches asks: are housing associations the new landlords from hell?

Brighton astrologer Tim Burness – 30 years experience, available for consultations and readings

Tim Burness – astrologer based in Brighton, UK

Based in Brighton (UK), Tim has run a busy astrological consultation and teaching practice at several points over the last thirty years, working with people from all walks of life.

There have been many appearances in local and national media and also some celebrity clients. Mostly however, Tim has interpreted birth charts for thousands of individuals with more ordinary lives!

With or without a face-to-face consultation, a careful in-depth analysis of the birth chart can be used as a guide to help us understand our psychological patterns and life choices. In keeping with other modern Western astrologers, the approach is to help empower the individual to become more fully responsible for his or her actions – “The stars incline, they do not compel.”

Brief astrological biography

After being surprised by the extraordinary accuracy of a computer forecast in 1986, Tim began intensive study, drawing on a very wide range of sources. These included seminars by the respected psychological astrologers Liz Greene and Howard Sasportas in London, coursework with the Faculty of Astrological Studies and the books of internationally acclaimed American astrologer Stephen Arroyo.

Tim gained massive experience in a short time from several years working regularly at Mind-Body-Spirit festivals and psychic fairs. Hundreds of face-to-face astrological consultations and personal feedback gave Tim a great opportunity to refine what works and what doesn’t. Client work gradually expanded in many directions, from advising on several business start-ups to work as a consultant for MIND, the mental health organisation.

In 1995 there were several local radio appearances under the name of Telepathic Tim, a path which he decided not to pursue further… ahem.

Since his teens, Tim has also explored a wide number of other related spiritual interests. These have included courses in Shamanic Consciousness and Therapeutic Intervention at the University of Sussex, a large number of intensive self-awareness courses and involvement with various forms of Buddhism. For over twenty years, Tim’s main day job was as a care and support worker across a wide variety of fields.

Astrology is a huge subject. Tim believes it really comes into its own when natal astrology (from the time, date and place of birth) is used as a guide to help us understand our life choices, psychological patterns and ongoing changes. This goes a lot, lot deeper than newspaper Sun sign horoscopes.

Bowie Astrological Association article

Drawing on his background as a musician, Tim’s article on “The Aquarian, Uranian nature of progressive rock” was included in The Book of Music Horoscopes, published by Flare Publications in 2018. There have been many recent contributions to both IAM Infinity astrological magazine and Journal, magazine of the UK Astrological Association. These have included a major essay on David Bowie’s birth chart, a piece on the life and chart of old friend Sir Harry Kroto, (the Nobel Prize-winning scientist) and an astrological perspective on the murder of Stephen Lawrence. For a brief period, Tim was Vice-Chairman of the Brighton Astrology Circle in East Sussex.

Tim continues to work towards raising the profile of accessible and intelligent astrology as a tool for personal, social and spiritual transformation. For more details, please see An introduction to the astrological birth chart and other blogs here. Three reviews of Interconnected by Tim Burness

Still reeling from the hugely enjoyable Hove headliner with the band ten days ago, more from that on here soon. Eppyfest (20th July) and Danfest gigs later this year.

Meanwhile, here are three reviews of the new album ‘Interconnected’. Thank you to the reviewers and websites in each case, very much appreciated.

Sea of TranquilityI have come to the conclusion Burness should be a household name in both pop and progressive rock. If you enjoy XTC, The Mute Gods, Cosmograf and intelligent pop music in general with more than the occasional proggy twist you absolutely need to give this a listen.”

Proggnosis “Yet again Tim Burness has given us a very polished and creative album that is sure to please his fans… and hopefully find him some new ones. Steve Hackett’s poppier material does come to mind…”

Honest Music For Dishonest Times “Eight albums later, he’s at the cutting edge of what he terms progressive pop-rock… Throughout Interconnected there’s a seam of commentary that shows Burness’ interests; the health of the planet, society, philosophy and astrology…  On the whole, a strong piece of work; strangely appealing.
