On holiday at home

July 28, 2008

I’ve worked a bit less over the last week and taken some holiday money due to me from the agency. With the sun shining gloriously most days, and Brighton beach at the end of my street, it is very easy to feel on holiday. Some would say this is one of the dangers of living in Brighton, one can get a bit too relaxed. Round about this time of the year there are large wandering groups of foreign students who tend to get in the way if you’re walking around town! Of course a lot of folk in general come down in the summer, and there’s always stag and hen parties going on at the weekends. It all gets a lot more crowded than when I first moved down here in 1989.

Have bumped into Monty (keyboards) twice recently. The Damned are in the middle of recording a new album in Berkshire and Monty is chuffed that they are using three of his songs. They broke off for a few days to do a festival in Norway which apparently went very well, now they go back in again. By a chance connection on MySpace I managed to get a “hello” across to America where an old acquaintance of mine who is now very successful in the music business is also recording at the moment. I am very jealous of these people.

Domino went missing today but turned up this evening. Normally he never leaves Lin’s flat but he sneaked out in a moment of madness. We think it’s good for him to get out now and again but he hardly ever does. The rash on his tummy has cleared up a little since we took him to the vet, he gave him a steroid injection and some antibiotics, eurgh.

Andy Warhol’s body double?

July 15, 2008

It’s been over a week since I went for a T.V. advert audition in London for Andy Warhol’s “body double”. Looks like I didn’t get it. The casting work has been very thin on the ground this year which is a bit disappointing. A couple of things have been cancelled at the last minute, unfortunately this does tend to happen. The last few months of last year I got quite a few bits and pieces (three films and one advert I think it was), maybe it will pick up again in the next few months.

I’m still re-adjusting to living in my small bedsit in Brighton, I’m not sure if I’ll ever feel that comfortable here but I don’t want to go through the hassle of moving again for a while. This morning I went running along the sea-front again, this is great! I’m not exactly at peak marathon fitness these days (I ran the London Marathon in 1998 and 2001) but I can still pound along at a good pace.

As usual there have been all sorts of things buzzing around inside my head (musical, spiritual, political, emotional, psychological), and some of them make it out into the real world and conversations with other people. I’m keeping up the MySpace push, I’ve got quite into it. I keep meeting these lovely women on there, I must concentrate more on promoting my music, ahem.
